What to Know About Planning a Wedding at a Private Estate

With their beautiful grounds and lavish indoor and outdoor options, a private estate is the ideal venue to match your preferences. Private estates are the perfect option if you have a medium to large guest count and want to capture an extravagant feeling. In addition, this is a great choice if you want to keep your options open for an indoor or outdoor ceremony or reception.

Booking considerations

There are a couple of important things to consider when booking an estate for your venue:

❤️ Private estates will often have strict sound ordinances and earlier end times than other types of venues. You'll want to make sure this fits with your vision of how late the reception will go and how loud the music will be.

❤️ You may want to check to see if they have a license to serve hard alcohol.

❤️ Private Estates are usually priced on the higher end and in some cases are associated with a winery, in which case there may be wine purchase rules. This can make the wine portion of your event expensive.

How private estates/mansions score in our Venue Quiz

Traditional vs. Non-Traditional 👉 Typically have the space to support most cultural and all non-cultural events.

Guest count 👉 Depending on the size of the estate, these venues can support all sizes, but definitely are most popular for large events.

Fancy vs. Casual 👉 Fancy all the way! Private estates are not to be confused with backyard weddings — very different!

Urban vs. Nature 👉 Both! Depending on the location of your private estate, you typically get the best of both worlds.

Location 👉 Estates can be seen in the rural countryside as well in urban cities.

Elderly/Special Needs 👉 Typically, private estates are wonderfully suited to support older guests. Beautifully landscaped grounds often provide great access for special needs guests as well.

DIY vs. Turnkey 👉 Definitely turnkey. Private estates are expensive and typically come with all the services. The exception would be if you booked a private estate that is not acquainted with weddings specifically, so you may run into making some big purchases to support your guests,

Outdoor vs. Indoor 👉 Best of both worlds here! Most private estates allow guests access indoors and to their private grounds.

Personal Style 👉 Private estates win the Soft, Light and Timeless style in our Stylegram™. Learn more about personal style and how it relates to your wedding here.

Budget Range 👉 Private estates are typically pretty pricey! Most private estates have all-inclusive packages that add up to a pretty penny, but the select few that have an affordable price tag usually don't include much in their offering so you end up spending a bunch of money anyways.
