What to Know About Planning an Elopement to an Exotic Landscape
Nothing whispers romance more than an intimate elopement to the middle of nowhere. It's just you, your partner, and sometimes a few of the most important people in your life. Some of the most impressive and inspiring photos are taken in exotic elopements, creating one-of-a-kind wall-worthy masterpieces. This is an incredible alternative to the traditional wedding event, reserved for the adventurous and true romantics.
Special considerations
There are a couple important things to consider when eloping to the middle of nowhere:
❤️ Never just show up anywhere thinking you'll sail off into the sunset happily ever after. Carefully plan out exact locations for all photos to avoid problems with permit violations (it wouldn't be the first time rangers have interrupted someone's elopement due to the lack of a permit)!
❤️ It is highly recommended by your personal feet, ankles and toes that you wear flat and comfortable walking shoes. Braving terrain in a wedding dress is challenging enough, and high heels are not for the faint of feet when encountering boulders, sand, water or hilly climbs.
❤️ Be very aware of weather conditions and bring a change of clothes, coats, blankets, shoes, etc. You do not want to be sorely uncomfortable in the evening chilly breeze on a mountaintop!
How exotic elopements score in our Venue Quiz
Traditional vs. Non-Traditional 👉 Eloping to an exotic landscape is about as non-traditional as a wedding gets!
Guest count 👉 Micro-weddings for the win! Eloping is the perfect solution to staying slim on the guest count.
Fancy vs. Casual 👉 Right in the middle. Dress up like your life depends on it, but there is no strict itinerary and you are the writers of your day ;)
Urban vs. Nature 👉 Perfect solution for nature lovers.
Location 👉 There is always a beautiful place to elope wherever you want to go. But what a unique opportunity to take advantage and travel to some place you have never been!
Elderly/Special Needs 👉 Not a friendly alternative if you or your guests are elderly or handi-capable.
DIY vs. Turnkey 👉 Extremely DIY. If you want any decor, flowers, etc, you have to haul them with you.
Outdoor vs. Indoor 👉 This outdoor option can't get anymore nature-friendly.
Personal Style 👉 Eloping to an exotic landscape wins the Modern, Simple and Subdued style in our Stylegram™. Learn more about personal style and how it relates to your wedding here.
Budget Range 👉 Eloping can be affordable! But travel is not usually cheap so as long as you stay close, eloping to the great outdoors can be an affordable option.
