Meet the wedding styles

Introduction to the wedding style types and why they’re important

Each couple has a unique style, and when planning your wedding, it’s so important to nail down what that is before you even nail down a date.

You may seem like just one type, but when you really start to look at your wardrobe or home decor, you may find you’re drawn to other styles as well. Also, you and your fiance might have very different styles, and our quiz will guide you in ways that will blend them seamlessly.  As shown on our Stylegram, styles can overlap, be influenced by other styles, and generally be a combination of a whole lifetime of experiences and interests.

When you take our Style Quiz, you’ll look at a variety of wedding details and choose which you like best, and this will define your own personal style. Knowing this information first will help to create a wedding you’ve always wanted.

Walking into a venue or evaluating wedding professionals knowing your style from the start will ensure a much smoother, and more enjoyable, planning process.  If you’re a Fun, Vibrant and Eclectic style, booking your wedding at a traditional country club may prove to be a disappointment when trying to make your wedding your own.  Also, trying to redesign a venue out of your style to match what you want by adding different design elements, lighting or decor typically ends up blowing the budget.

When it comes to who you hire for your wedding pros, knowing your style from the onset is vital.  You will be able to immediately filter out pros that don’t vibe with what you want. Imagine the struggle of hiring a photographer whose style is not like yours.  Be ready for a lot of conversations about what you’re looking for and, in the end, no guarantee that you’ll get what you’re looking for.

This is where Event Hollow changes the game.  By taking our Style Quiz from the very beginning you’ll be intelligently paired with vendors that already match your style.  You’ll be saved a lot of frustration and confusion trying to find your vendors that “get it”. You’ll also be saved a lot of worry about whether your day will turn out just how you envisioned it.

Reading the Stylegram

The Stylegram uses 4 main shapes to represent each individual style, influenced styles, and how they relate to one another.

  • The black-colored ring in the center represents the six core styles [anchor] - Timeless, Traditional, Vibrant, Classic, Rustic, and Modern.

  • The pink star-shape on the outside of the circle are style blends of the core styles [anchor].

  • The grey cross lines represent shared photography esthetic between specific styles

  • The blue triangles represent style categories that have broad commonalities.

Black Ring

The 6 core styles are fixed on the black ring.  These 6 styles represent the 6 main differentiations in wedding styles→ Classic, Traditional, Modern, Rustic, Vibrant and Timeless. If you take the wedding style test, and result in one one of these 6 main styles, you have very consistent tastes and generally know exactly what it is you want in your wedding.

Pink star

These 6 blended styles, fixed on the outside of the black circle,  represent individuals that are a true blend of the core styles.

Grey cross lines

Each core style is connected to another by a grey-colored line. These connections represent the two connected styles that often share a similar style of photography.

  • Modern, Simple & Subdued (MSS) is connected to Fun, Eclectic & Vibrant (FEV) - both styles are typically drawn to the desaturated, cool colored and slightly moody photography edit. Though the root of the tester’s aesthetic may not be moody, this style of photography highly compliments the design elements included and is most popular in these styles.

  • Soft, Light & Timeless (SLT) is connected to Cool, Bold & Classic (CBC) - both styles are drawn to the photojournalistic, natural light and mostly film-like photography edit. The styles primarily differ in color palettes, rental selections and design choices.

  • Culture Rich, Elegant & Traditional (CET) is connected to Dynamic, Rustic & Warm (DRW) - both styles are typically drawn to a stronger photography edit. With larger-than-life dress and veil poses, grandiose sunsets that seem to beam through the images, these two styles sincerely appreciate fine art photography and quite often high-quality artwork.

Blue triangles

The blue lines connect the styles that have the most commonalities.

The connected styles of SLT, CET, CBC are all styles that resonate with traditional couples that have a strong sense of family and history.  These events typically have high-end decor, especially elegant details, and a design that will stand the test of time.

The other triangle resonates with the more non-traditional couples DRW, FEV, MSS.  Young, or just young-at-heart, these weddings really showcase the quirks and personalities of the couple, willing to embrace trends and fads, and love to include something unique.  They want their guests to really have fun and celebrate.
